École supérieure de mode de Montréal

In creating l'École Supérieure de mode de Montréal, the Université du Québec à Montréal and the LaSalle College Group joined their resources, experience and expertise to offer a unique university level programme in French. The Baccalauréat en gestion et design de mode is in fact unique in North America. Since 1995, the programme offers three areas of specialization, providing a strong base for future generations of fashion industry professionals in design, marketing and industrial management. The high quality of the programme as well as the honours and awards that students regularly receive contribute to the strong reputation of the institution.

Vicky Dubois Biography

Vicky Dubois was born in Québec, Canada in 1976. She earned her college diploma in Fashion Design for women’s wear at College Marie-Victorin, Montreal. Following graduation she’s pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design Management, majoring in fashion design at École supérieure de mode de Montréal.

In 1999 she was finalist in a Montreal student fashion contest, and in 2000, she won a scholarship from the Fashion-excellence young designer of Quebec.

Two years ago, she started a Bachelor’s Degree in fashion design and in 2007 she received a scholarship from the Fashion Fondation of Montreal. In 2007, she was also finalist of the Télio contest and her creation was in the Montreal fashion week runway.

She’s presently showing one of her creation at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Bruxel, Belgium. In January 2008, she is starting a fashion design internship for the company Soundgirl in New York.

Inspiration

First I was inspired by the fur, it’s texture and it’s volume when I sketched my garment. I wanted to reflect an image of North America in my creation. The mix of the brown suede and the fox fur gave a warm feeling to the creation. The key point of the garment was to use natural materials (suede, fur, wood) to bring the creation closer to the earth.
