1. Warmth

Warmth is the number one reason people like to wear fur, according to a recent poll of fur buyers. Fur is nature's most beautiful answer to Winter. (And fur is naturally iso-thermic!)

2. Fashion

Modern, casual or elegant, fur is always in style. More than 300 top international designers are now using fur in their collections. Hip hop artists, pop singers and other celebs have made fur a hot trend with young people.

3. Long-Lasting

Fur is a naturally durable fiber that lasts for many, many years. (The synthetics that animal activists would have us wear are usually made from petroleum – a non-renewable resource that can cause serious pollution problems. Oil spills aren’t great for wildlife!)

4. Re-Styleable

Unlike other clothing materials, your fur can be updated and re-styled to reflect the latest fashions, time and time again. That’s eco-logical! (How many other clothes can be used and re-used 30 years or more?)

5. Environmentally Friendly

A fine natural product, fur is bio-degradable and a renewable resource. In fact, “the sustainable use of wildlife” is now promoted by the World Wildlife Fund, the World Conservation Union (IUCN) and every major conservation organization.

6. Versatile

Fur can be worn for all occasions. Whether with jeans or an evening gown, wearing fur will make you look and feel terrific! With lighter weight fur and new techniques, fur apparel and accessories are now an all-season fashion.

7. Supporting Livelihoods and Cultures

When you buy fur, you support thousands of aboriginal and other people living close to the land - people who have a direct interest in protecting vital wildlife habitat. Most of us eat meat and wear leather; in northern Canada there are no cows -- there are muskrats and beavers, which are eaten by aboriginal and other hunters. Should they throw away the fur, which is one of the few resources they have for their livelihoods?

8. Responsible Conservation

Furs used in the trade are abundant. Strict national and international controls (e.g., CITES) ensure that NO endangered species are ever used. A commitment to animal welfare is also assured by state and provincial regulations, and by the “Agreement on International Humane trapping Standards” signed by the EU, Canada and the USA.

9. Supporting Farm families

Many furs (especially mink, fox and chinchilla) are now raised on farms. These animals receive excellent nutrition and treatment; there is no other way to produce the quality of fur required.

10. Fur is your Choice!

If you do choose to wear fur, it’s good to know that the fur trade is a responsible, well-regulated industry. So long as 95% of the population eats meat, why shouldn’t we enjoy the comfort and beauty of fur? The beauty of fur can also remind us of the importance of protecting wilderness regions. You can feel proud of your choice to wear natural
