One of the most prominent Montréal designers of his generation, Andy Thê-Anh is best known for his sexy and modern take on affordable sportswear for active, fashion-conscious women. He recently entered into a new partnership that will give him added financial and manufacturing means, allowing him to consolidate and further expand his customer-base in Canada, the United States and Europe. The new company, called Athêlia, will produce a ready-to-wear collection under the Andy by Andy Thê-Anh label as well as a LIVING-WEAR collection called A Degree which will be launched in the near future. He is also renowned for creating exclusive outfits for some of Canada’s best known performers.
Before designing his own label, Andy worked for reputed Canadian manufacturers: he glamorized jeans-wear at Parasuco; added a touch of high fashion to children’s wear and maternity clothes at Ma Divine Clémentine; modernized classic coats and suits for Irving Samuel and Raffinati; and worked on both young men’s and women’s collections for North American retailer Tristan & America.
Born in Vietnam, Andy came to Canada in 1981 and studied fashion at LaSalle College. Over the years, he has won several fashion awards, including the Young Designer Award at the Salon de la Jeunesse, the Dubonnet Design competition, and the Canadian Fur Council’s Fashion and Fur competition.
